VSAT3100 Business Edition Networking

The VSAT3100 satellite Internet modem contains all components in a single unit, much like a cable or DSL modem. You can connect a single computer to the 1 Ethernet available or you can connect a network of computers via hub, switch, or router. The type of device that you choose to connect your network to the VSAT3100 depends on the type of service that you purchase. There are currently four satellite Internet service levels offered through TicoSAT. Please select a service level in order to read on about networking with the VSAT3100.

    • Service with dynamic IP service- comes with a dynamic IP address that is the product of Network Address Translation (NAT). This service is intended for the home Internet user that does not need to connect into their computer via Virtual Private Networking (VPN) or other types of remote access/file transfer applications. With this service you will not be able to tunnel into your connection from an outside computer.
    • Service with static public IP service- comes with 1 or 5 unique, Static IP addresses. The static Public IP service is needed if you are looking to use a VPN, some type of remote access software to tunnel into your network behind the satellite Internet system, or would like to run a mail server behind the satellite Internet connection. If you purchase the static Public IP service then it is highly recommended that you also purchase a router from TicoSAT or your local computer store. TicoSAT provides the Linksys 4-port mini-router which will be discussed further in networking your satellite internet connection with this service.

Accessing the VSAT3100 User Interface: The functions and features of the VSAT3100 can be viewed in the Control Center of the VSAT3100. To access the control center you will need to open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape, etc.) and type either of the following into the address bar 192.168.0.1 or www.VSATsupport.com . This will bring up the system Control Center from where you will be able to configure the VSAT3100 for your network.
